Just Read, Florida!

On September 7, 2001, Governor Jeb Bush signed Executive Order 01-260  designating Just Read, Florida! as a comprehensive and coordinated reading initiative. Since then, the Florida Education Foundation has been an integral partner, supporter and resource to this statewide program.

Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!

Announcing the Fourth Annual Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! 2012 "Take the Lead and Read!" Events and Contest.

Join us in celebrating the successes of Florida's schools and students, by participating in the Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! "Take the Lead and Read" campaign. Administrators, teachers, students, and parents are all leaders and can take the challenge to lead others into success.

Students may participate in the Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! PSA contest centered around the new theme of "Take the Lead and Read". With the support of partners such as the Daytona International Speedway and Scholastic the Just Read, Florida! Office is able to "Rev Up" the challenge to read by bringing a race car to schools across the state. Be on the lookout for the Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! Race Car in your area.

Join other Florida schools on Monday, January 23, 2012 for the Million Minute Marathon with a new goal of 20 MILLION minutes.

The book used for this year's Million Minute Marathon will be: "How Much is a Million?" by David M. Schwartz, pictures by Steven Kellogg

"20 minutes…of daily reading beyond the regular reading program significantly increases student reading achievement."
